I wrote this song in response to some of the teachings of the Mormon church where I was raised. Mormons teach that God will listen to your prayers if you ask to find things you lost like your keys or spare change. However, growing up I eventually realized there are many worse problems happening all around the world that God did not seem to be addressing, despite many people praying for help. I wrote this song to contrast these two points of view.

The song is tongue-in-cheek. Some people who hear the song even initially think it’s a Gospel song because of the chorus.
